Our Use Statistics are up to 1167 Today

June 9, 2008 by Carroll Wetzel Wilkinson

Many of you are still looking at the blog, and this is great! But no one is writing. While those memories are fresh I know you have a lot to say. So use the comment function if nothing else. That does not take any advance registration.

I know many of you are organizing the photos you took at our reunion. One of our classmates found out today that she cannot upload her photos to the blog. I am looking into authorization for blog contributors at the moment and will have more to say when I know more.

For now, let me say I have heard from Audre Engleman and she wants to post. So stay tuned!

Just Some Quick Thoughts

June 3, 2008 by Carroll Wetzel Wilkinson

Hello All! I trust you are home safely and adjusting to whatever is normal for you. I find myself exhausted, but energized and hopeful because of our time this weekend at our 40th reunion. It was wonderful to be on campus with you and to see you again. 44 years is so long ago, but 1964 is when we met and started our studies together. How is that possible? And how did the weekend go so quickly?

I know many of you have pictures of lovely moments during our days together. I hope some of you will share a few here. And I hope those who could not come will have a look too; so many of our classmates were missed and remembered fondly. I am proud of our turnout and our contribution to Wells. Many collaborated to make the weekend successful and Rhea and I could not have done it without Wendy, Joanie and Kathy, Pam and  Jen, the Development Office staff, Janice Gavan, and our classmates.

We encourage those of you who came to campus to candidly evaluate the reunion using the form provided in your packet and send it to the Alumnae Affairs office. They will use your views for future planning.

Warm regards to everyone in the class of 1968!

Our Home Away From Home This Weekend

greetings from New Haven

Hi, everyone —

Finally joining the blog conversation, and am tickled to see so much activity. The course I taught this past semester [upper-level Women's Studies course that I just developed: The Women's Movement] took an enormous amount of time and energy, in addition to my regular writing/editing work. Definitely worth it –an amazing semester — but left me not much leeway for blogging and chatting. Anyway, here I am.

Tried to register for reunion officially this morning [not that they don't know I'm coming!], but I kept getting error messages, regardless of which browser I used. Sent a note to the Alum Office about this. So if anyone else is having that problem, check back again. You can always email the Alum Office to let them know you’re coming [alumnae@wells.edu].

I plan to arrive Thursday, late afternoon and am looking forward to seeing everyone.  Jan Dederick and I and Carroll [I'm pretty sure] are staying until Monday morning; I’m giving Jan a ride to Newburgh on Monday. That extra afternoon/evening will be a relaxing extension of the respite by the lake.

If you’re driving, consider bringing amenities like reading lamps and real towels. And don’t worry about remembering classmates — we’ll be wearing nametags.

best to all,
Rhea

897 visits to this site and counting……

At this time next week we’ll be through with Alumnae College and having lunch. I feel certain members of our class will be active participants in those events.

We need active participation here as well. Who will post here to push us over 900 visits? I cannot believe the members of my class have nothing to say. I know that is not the case. I know you are reading and must be getting weary of my name posting here. Do something to change that: write! Have your say.

I live in hope that if I cannot win you over before our reunion, I can afterward. This virtual place can remain as a communication tool for as long as we want to use it. When we are together I’ll be interested to hear your voices and perspectives.

Class Blog Statistics

May 16, 2008 by Carroll Wetzel Wilkinson

Friday May 9 was our best blog day ever…47 people visited our site. Overall we have had 825 visitors since the beginning. So there are readers and this is good. I cannot tell whether they are class members or people who have surfed over to check our tags, or both. I cannot see IP addresses thank heavens.

As you can tell if you have read through the whole blog back to November, I haven’t had good luck getting many of you to post. There’s still time though. PLEASE let me know if you want to become a contributor. I welcome this. Just get in touch. It’s great to have Lisa with us, and you have to follow the comments if you want to see Joannie’s participation.

If anyone has ideas for how to encourage people to follow through and write posts, just speak up. I’ve never known my classmates to be so quiet.

Try it, you’ll like it once you get the rhythm.

See you all soon.

Checklist of Attendees So Far

http://www.wells.edu/lconnect/08reunionattendees.htm

This is a list of attendees as of 5/13/08. Lisa Goodridge, Joannie Norris Daurio, Kathie Wohlers Harder, and Nancy Wilson are also coming. I hope there are others as well! (You might have to copy and paste the link.)

Take a quick look at the list for the 50th reunion women while you are at the Wells site. There are more than thirty of them! I am impressed. They’ve got us beat. Can we accept this? Can’t you still call friends and bring them along?
